PQ leader Pauline Marois demanded that Jean Charest step in to block the attempt of Lowe's Hardware to buy Quebec hardware store, Rona.
"After the French language, Quebec's hardware is the most important element of Quebec's culture" said Marois in front of the Rona store at Galeries d'Anjou. "Why are the Liberals standling idly by while Quebec allen wrenches, Quebec elbow joints, Quebec spiggots are at stake? This is just like his handling of corruption in the construction industry."
Charest, meanwhile, at the Home Depot in Saint-Henri, responded, "Does Mme Marois want a referendum on hardware? When if she going to call a referendum on hardware? Is Rona where she gets her pots and pans? Her casseroles?"
When asked about the issue in a poll by Leger Marketing, 98% of Quebecers rolled their eyes, hung up the phone and went shopping for hardware in Plattsburgh.
