Canada Geese welcome in sovereign Quebec, says Marois

ST-NICOLAS -- Parti Québécois leader Pauline Marois pledged that Canada Geese would be allowed to cross into Québec during their annual migration in the event that the province chose sovereignty in a referendum.

"We do not anticipate that there would be any new goose tax or overhead flight impediments for Canadian Geese in the event of sovereignty," said Marois on a campaign stop in the Chutes-de-la-Chaudière region.  However, she suggested that the geese would be better off flying in the logo of the TVA station owned by PQ candidate Pierre Karl Péleadeau, rather than in their traditional "V" formation of TVA's competitor.

Some Conservative MPs in Ottawa disagreed.  "Nothing is guaranteed about Canadian geese being able to cross freely from Canada into Quebec and back," said some Albertan MP no one has ever heard of.

"Honk," said a spokesgoose for the Association of Canadian Geese, suggesting an automobile-based lobbying campaign.
