QUÉBEC - Premier Pauline Marois was released from hospital this morning, having suffered the effects from laughing too hard at the request of six English language Quebec broadcasters requesting a leaders' debate to be held in English.
The minor incident happened after Marois' press secretary mentioned the request at a morning briefing.
"The Premier thought that I was playing a prank, and laughed mildly," said her press secretary (in French). "But when I confirmed that six networks had actually gotten together to write a letter asking for an English debate, she experienced a painful but non-life threatening fit of laughter, which required short hospitalization."
