At a press conference in Saint-Jerome, CAQ leader Francois Legault called CAQ candidate Jacques Duchesneau "Quebec's Eliot Ness", after the famous American Prohibition Agent.
For his part, Duchesneau vowed to crack down on the vast quantities of moonshine, intoxicating liquors and hootch flowing through Montreal's clandestine purveyors of strong beverages.
"I informed the Minister of Public Security about the amount of booze flowing through Montreal's establishments, but he seemed completely uninterested," said Duchesneau. "So I leaked the report.
"Now with the CAQ, I hope to rid this province of the scourge of alcohol," continued Duchesneau, symbolically pouring a barrel of Labatt 50 into the gutter.
