The Parti quebecois celebrated a crushing majority victory tonight at Club Metropolis in Montreal, as they realized that their lead in the polls will not change no matter what happens during the election campaign.
Polls showed that the Parti Quebecois remained with a 5% lead over the Liberals and Coalition avenir Quebec, exactly the same result as when the campaign started three weeks ago. Realizing that four nights of leaders debates, millions of dollars in TV advertising, endorsements and gaffes had absolutely no effect on the campaign, the Parti quebecois were able to declare a victory ten days before the vote.
"We realized that nothing will change the voters' decision, and that the campaign and vote itself will be a massive waste of everyone's time and money!" said a jubilant Jean-Francois Lisee, who won his own seat.
"We were totally justified in announcing our transition team three weeks before the vote," said Lisee.
The PQ expect to be officially sworn into office this Wednesday.
