Critics pan Election 2014 as "Meandering, Unoriginal Sequel"

HOLLYWOOD - Even before its opening weekend, critics have been panning the Quebec-made "Election 2014" as an unoriginal sequel to the more popular Election 2012.

"We didn't expect much from Election 2012, a summer release that not many people noticed when it came out," said Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun. "But the kooky characters and surprise ending caught my interest.  Election 2014, on the other hand, seems like just a retread of the same ideas, almost the same characters, and no discernible plot."

"This is a forced, meandering, unoriginal sequal that most people are going to avoid," said Leonard Maltin.

"I don't mind subtitles, but when the dialogue is made up of stuff like: 'The decrease in taxes that we propose is based on a credible and rigorous approach,' we lose interest pretty fast," wrote the Hollywood Reporter.
