Liberals' signing of Unrestricted Free Agent Barrette gives them size up front

BROSSARD - Dr. Gaetin Barrette signed a one-year deal with the Quebec Liberals as an unrestricted free agent yesterday.  Liberal GM Philippe Couillard hopes the signing of the 60 year-old, 300 pound politician will give the Liberals some much needed size in the offensive zone, who have a reputation as small and easy to push around in the corners.

Barrette's former club, Team Francois Legault, say they do not regret having offered Barrette a longer term contract in 2012.  "Size isn't what we need right now," said Team Francois Legault's GM, Francois Legault.  "The gap we're trying to fill is brains, which is something we've been trying to find for quite a while."

Although terms have not been disclosed, sources say that Barrette has signed a two-way contract, worth $101,000 if he stays with the main club after April 7 and worth $90 if he is sent down to the minors after April 7.
