Charest Unveils Plan Nord: Everyone Moves to Kuujjuaq

Days away from calling an election, Quebec Premier Jean Charest revealed new details on the second phase of his Plan Nord: to move everyone in the provice to Kuujjuuaq, near Ungava Bay.

"This new Plan Nord would attract billions in investment," said Charest, during a press conference to announce his candidates for the ridings of Ungava and Duplessis.  "We would be building a new metropolis almost the size of New York City. Kuujuuaq will become a world financial centre.  And since everything will be made out of chrysotile asbestos, the new city will not need to maintain a fire department."

When asked how the Inuit town of 2,400 would be able to support an additional 7 million people without underground pipes or building foundations due to permafrost, Charest said, "Don't worry, plenty of my closest friends are from the construction industry and they told me that this was completely doable with the proper financial support of the government."
