CAQ rides wave of momentum into distant third place: poll

Francois Legault's Coalition avenir Quebec had ridden a wave of momentum in the first two weeks of the campaign and would now finish in a distant third place if an election were held today, a CROP poll has revealed.

The party has jumped from 14% of decided voter support just before the start of the the campaign to 25% as of yesterday, the poll revealed. This would result in CAQ winning approximately 20 seats, far behind the PQ which would win about 70 seats and Liberals which would win 45.

"Things are going very well," Legault said before a crowd of supporters at Longueuil bus station, who repeatedly chanted "We're number three! We're number three!" during his speech. "When we started this campaign, we were discounted as a third place party. But with our strong campaign focused on accountability and cleaning up Quebec, we have climbed all the way into third place."
