A CROP poll released today showed that the deciding issue in this campaign for most Quebecers is which party makes the best personal insults against other parties' candidates. The survey revealed a surge of support to both the Parti Quebceois and CAQ after Pauline Marois called a CAQ candidate "too fat to be health minister" and where the CAQ called Marois a "crybaby".
The poll was conducted before a Parti quebecois candidate was called "too Algerian".
Jean Charest's Liberals continue to fall in the polls after the best insult that Charest could come up with was calling Francois Legault "an accountant who can't count".
"It would have been more effective if Charest had made fun of Lgault's personal appearance or poor speaking style," said CROP spokesman Alain Lagace. "Voters felt that the reference to Legault's accounting skills was too relevant to his ability to govern and so lost interest in the insult."
Quebec solidaire has so far avoided personal insults and is expected to get no votes.
