Election speculation heated up today as sources close to Liberal leader Jean Charest say he now favours holding off on an election until the spring of 2013.
"Charest believes that the people of Quebec really want to hear from the Charbonneau Commission before making their decision," said a Charest confidant who spoke on condition of anonymity. "Also, a spring election would allow more people to vote and would give more of a chance for opposition parties to prepare, so it would be fairer for everyone."
"The premier is also concerned that we don't want to disturb Quebecers during their summer vacation with political discussions," said the source.
