Jean-Francois Lisee invites himself over to dinner with the Charest family

Quebec Premier Jean Charest received a surprise visit for supper from Parti québécois candidate Jean-François Lisée.

Charest was about to sit at the dinner table with his wife, Michèle Dionne, at 9:00 pm when Lisée rang the doorbell uninvited.  "He didn't bring wine, but he brought some liquor that he said was made in his home riding of Rosemont.  I didn't have any," said Dionne.

For the rest of the evening, Lisée challenged Dionne over her lack of bean sprouts in the sweet and sour pork that she had prepared for the evening.

"Lisée wanted to know why I didn't use bean sprouts in my dish because it was a Chinese dish and he always included bean sprouts," said Dionne.  "I told him that it's easy to criticize while in opposition, but when you're cooking for the Government you have to make some difficult decisions.  I chose to not include bean sprouts because Jean and I don't really like them.  Not everyone is happy, but that's what being a responsible amateur Asian fusion cuisine cook is all about."

Lisée left around 10:30 p.m., saying that he looked forward to the christening of Charest's grandchild.
