On the heels of CAQ's nomination of former Montreal police chief Jacques Duchesneau and Quebec Solidaire's nomination of former RCMP officer Will Prosper as candidates, Liberal leader Jean Charest has nominated a photo radar camera as the Liberals' "law and order" candidate in Rosemont.
Charest called the photo radar camera the "ideal Liberal candidate" as it was not linked to corruption, had experience in law enforcement and had no mind of its own. He stressed that the camera was making a large personal sacrifice to run, as staring at the highway and annoying motorists all day was much more stimulating and rewarding than being a Liberal backbencher.
The nomination was viewed as surprising by pollsters, who noted that giving contracts to mafia-linked construction contractors in return for kickbacks was a far more popular policy than photo radar.
