Marois proposes extending Bill 101 to the womb

PQ leader Pauline Marois wants to extend Bill 101 to pre-natal care in an effort to stop "significant losses for the French language prior to birth."

"It is a well-known fact that foetuses in their second and third trimester can hear their parents' voices in the womb. And if the language they are hearing is not French, that represents a serious threat to Quebec's identity," said Marois today while campaigning in Longueuil.

Under the PQ's proposed amendments to Bill 101, foetuses whose parents' foetuses were not given ultrasounds in English in Quebec prior to 1977 would be required to undergo all ultrasounds in Quebec's official language.
