Couillard promises 1 billion jobs

MONTREAL -  Liberal leader Philippe Couillard unveiled a promise to create 1 billion new jobs if elected -- approximately 140 jobs per Quebecer.

Testing out the Liberals' new campaign theme of "Go Big or Go Home," Couillard announced that by reviving a home renovation tax credit and by updating Quebec's mining laws, he estimated that enough jobs would be created for all Quebecers for the next 700 years.

When challenged on the figures, Couillard responded: "Saying that the government will create one new job is a lie.  One billion new jobs is a statistic."
